Fountain for the Thirsty
Love. Listen. Learn
Who We Are
We are a registered NPO 217-811 and NPC 2017 / 137487 / 08. We have been feeding the homeless in the suburbs of Linden and Blairgowrie, Johannesburg since April 2017 and have served over 20 000 hot cooked meals. We hope of expanding to building numerous shelters, to cater to the immediate needs of the hungry and the homeless.
I used to cry when I saw people begging for food at every street corner; when I saw a man sleep under a tree on the corner of my street. I asked God "What can I do? I have no money and I am very young." God's response was simple, " But don't you have lunch." That day I shared my lunch.
Since then I bought banana's and apples, made extra sandwiches and distributed them on my way to varsity. My prayer was 'God may there be no hungry people on my route to university.' Furthermore, on a monthly basis I would take cooked food to the jobless on street corners.
Now 4 years later, Fountain for the Thirsty is 3 years old we have fed in excess of 20 000 hot cooked meals.
Not only do we feed the homeless, we love them, we listen to them and we learn from them. We hope to expand into building numerous shelters, to cater to the immediate needs of the hungry and the homeless.
How to be the change you want to see
The Dinner Table
Feeding the homeless
Share love over a meal with the homeless. This is where all the magic happens, where friendships are formed. An opportunity to learn about the realities faced by those living on the streets. Great for the whole family. Valid as active community service hours.
Non perishables e.g.
Maize meal, soup powder, salt, stock cubes, pasta, curry powder, soya mince, lentils...
All these supplies goes directly into The Dinner Table — feeding the homeless a hot cooked meal.

Invite us to do an activation or give a talk
Often people want to know how they can help the homeless; but in truth the homeless can help you. Let us come and share our knowledge about the homeless and teach you how to help them in some of the best ways possible. We give talks for groups of 4 people or more. We do activation's for crowds as young as 5 years old to our golden oldies in the old age homes.
Winter Blanket Drive
April - September
We accept new and used blankets that are distributed to the homeless over the course of winter.
